Apple Pie Filling Recipe

Ingredients Needed: 1 recipe for a 9 inch double crust pie (store bought or use yours) 1/2 cup unsalted butter 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 8 Granny Smith apples- peeled, cored, and sliced |
Directions
1. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to create a paste.
Add the water, white sugar, brown sugar,
and bring it all to a boil.
Reduce the temperature and let it simmer.
2. Arrange bottom crust in your pie plate. Add apples on top of
the bottom crust. Pour the sugar and butter mixture over the
apples. Pour the liquid slowly so that it covers the apples.
Cover with a lattice pattern crust or a solid top crust and add
slits.
3. Place pie in oven and set to 425F
and bake for 15 minutes and then
reduce the temperature to 350 F.
Continue to bake for 35 to 55 minutes.
Pie is done when the filling bubbles and the apples are soft.
